Can you help strengthen the voice of parent carers and SEND families and improve outcomes for children?

We are seeking an additional engagement worker to join the team working on two projects: Autism in Schools (AiS) and Partnerships for Inclusion of Neurodiversity in Schools (PINS).

The focus of the role will be to facilitate parent carer groups in specific named schools across East Sussex to strengthen relationships between schools and their parent carer communities and improve the outcomes for children and young people with SEND (special educational needs and/or disabilities).

The projects are a national initiative funded by the NHS. You can read more about them here:

ESPCF is supported by Amaze, the local charity providing information, advice & support to SEND families. This includes HR support; Amaze is therefore the employer for this role.

This is a great opportunity to join a welcoming and supportive team and to be part of projects where the feedback received has shown how valuable and beneficial the parent carer groups can be.

To be part of this project, it is essential that you have lived experience of neurodivergence, health conditions, or disabilities – yourself and/or as a parent/carer of a child, young person or adult with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Role details

  • Contracted hours are 5 per week term-time only, but the schedule/number of hours will vary each week to fit in with school groups.
  • Fixed-term until March 2026 in the first instance, with the possibility of extension.
  • The role will entail visiting schools within East Sussex. Administrative tasks can be completed by working from home or from Amaze’s Eastbourne or Brighton offices.

We are looking for someone who can join us as soon as possible. The hours worked each week will be in negotiation but there is a requirement to travel to schools within East Sussex to facilitate parent carer groups which are held to coincide with the start or end of the school day.

At ESPCF and Amaze, we support you. We value creativity and collaboration. You’ll work among a team of compassionate colleagues. We offer training and flexible working. Working for ESPCF/Amaze isn’t just a job—it’s a chance to make a difference.
