The consultation on the SEND reforms is now open and runs until 18 May 2026:
And the government has also published a series of short documents setting out key information:
It’s going to take time to thoroughly read through the 120-page white paper and the 130-page consultation document, and to understand what it means in reality for families.
Importantly – nothing changes straightaway. The 12-week consultation period will run, then if changes are to be made to the law, processes must be followed, which takes time.
There is no immediate change to your child or young person’s current support, provision, or their legal rights.
Our events on Monday 2nd March and Tuesday 3rd March are well-timed opportunities to help understand the changes together.
And please get in touch with us and let us know your thoughts – if you have been able to have a read through yet. We want to make sure we are amplifying your voices in the work we are doing at both a local and national level.
